About Me
Hi, I’m Nikhil.
I am a computer enthusiast. Currently, I am a gradudate student at San
Jose State University and live in San Jose. I was born and raised in
Pune, India. I have lived in Pune, Bangalore, Chicago and now live in San Jose.
I’ve been programming computers since the late 90s. I currently grok Ruby and use it to accomplish most
of my tasks as it fits great for developing web applications as well as
automating and configuring systems. I occasionally enjoy speaking at
conferences, lightning talks, and meetup groups.
In a past life, I used to be a C programmer due to which I also harbor
a special interest for systems. My platform of choice is GNU/Linux,
usually coupled with appropriate virtualization and always controlled
via automatic configuration management.
I used to work with really smart people at ThoughtWorks, Inc. for three years. There, I learned many tricks of the trade while helping build web applications for clients and developing products for ThoughtWorks.
A few of my favorite tools would be: emacs, git, chef and keynote.
What am I learning?
Currently, I am learning Python and Networking.
